It was time for this spacious, light-filled master bath to be updated and made into what my clients really wanted.
With a huge skylight, the ability to raise the ceiling and ample open space with no structural components, we had a lot of great qualities to work with!
The gold fixtures, tile counters and accent wallpaper needed to retire.
Oh, and definitely those roman columns *accentuating* the built-in tub that took up a third of the bathroom alone. As big as this bathroom is, it felt quite the opposite and rather dark when we first started. But, my clients’ sophisticated, sleek style transformed this room into a gorgeous, open and relaxing space.

By removing the wall that created a cramped shower and the two pony walls separating the bathtub from the rest of the room, I was able to design a space that felt more cohesive and flowed from one area to the next without interruption.

Along with removing those barriers, we raised and leveled the 2 tiered ceiling, opening the space allowing you to appreciate how big the bathroom actually is. We didn’t want to lose that, so the layout was going to be a major factor in this design.
The shower and freestanding bathtub were combined in an open bathing concept with a single glass partition to catch the water, but not completely confine the shower and tub.
This allows you to move freely and without hindrance. However, in using transparent glass, visually, there are no barriers making the room appear smaller.

Even with the spacious bathing area, the bathroom still had plenty of room for a double vanity (lots of storage and counter space required!) and that MUST HAVE sauna.
Definitely a unique element to their bathroom, but also another point of interest in the room.
The light wood tone of the sauna added contrast to an already beautiful, monochromatic color scheme.
The cool greys, modern fixtures and classic material selection speak to my clients’ style and their spa vision. By eliminating the heaviness, we were able to incorporate my clients’ many necessities while maintaining a spacious, free-flowing master retreat.
